Prior to joining Consensus, Ariel was engaged by GTZ to consult and train others in their Sri Lankan conflict transformation program. Previously, she was a consultant with Hearing Peace, a conflict resolution organization where she was involved in a variety of engagements including facilitating dialogue at UN-NGO conferences. During that time, she also taught a foundation course for the CUNY Dispute Resolution Certificate, at City University of New York’s John Jay College.
Earlier in her career, Ariel served as the mediation coordinator for the Center for Court Innovation, where she convened and facilitated multi-party dispute resolution between businesses, residents, law enforcement agencies, and public officials. There, she also facilitated victim-offender dialogues, directed a court-based mediation program, led mediation trainings, and represented the court to agencies and to the public. Ariel also was a Teaching Fellow at Harvard, and did research on behalf of the Public Conversations Project.
Ariel currently is an adjunct lecturer at Columbia University’s School of International & Public Affairs and School of Continuing Education where she teaches graduate-level courses in mediation and conflict resolution.
She earned her Master of Education (with a focus in Leadership Development and Conflict Resolution) from Harvard and her Bachelors from Wesleyan.
