Refining Hedge Fund's Investor Solicitations

Situation
A prominent hedge fund recognized that it could improve its ability to secure investors by refining its team’s ability to communicate effectively.

Consensus Effort
Consensus developed an engagement composed of workshops and individual coaching sessions for the investment team. The workshops introduced a four-element framework for capitalizing on in-person meetings to forge client relationships. Customized, interactive exercises were used to reinforce the theoretical concepts and surface gaps in understanding. In the individual coaching sessions, each member of the investment team met with two Consensus professionals who offered feedback and advice on their particular improvement areas. Within each session, participants engaged in role-play exercises which were videotaped and subsequently analyzed in order to shed light on the individual’s performance. Consensus presented our findings to the management team as well as our recommendations for achieving further improvement.

Results
  • Management reports increased confidence in introducing prospective investors to members of the investment team.
  • The client anticipates higher rates of conversion of prospective clients.
