Constructive Candor in the Workplace
CLECPE Overview In an ever changing environment, the ability to adapt to change is paramount. As the global marketplace continues to evolve, organizations face greater uncertainty and increased competition. Successfully navigating today’s stormy climate is conditioned upon a team’s ability to get the best from each of its members and to integrate each individual’s strengths into an even stronger whole. However, such collaboration is only possible when members of the team communicate effectively with one another. Frank dialogue, even about sensitive or divisive topics, is critical for a group to function at its best. This high-energy workshop teaches a framework for constructively broaching conversations that tend to generate anxiety and, if handled incorrectly, have the potential to give rise to conflict.
Some of the things you will learn include…
- …a framework that was developed at Harvard University, for initiating uncomfortable conversations in a constructive way
- …how to apply the framework to a wide variety of difficult situations
- …how to share difficult information with colleagues, clients, and professional contacts
- …skills for managing interpersonal conflict in different areas of your life
- …how to have a constructive conversation, even when the other party is being antagonistic
Methodology This high-energy, hands-on course is approximately 20% interactive lecture and 80% exercises. Once you’ve learned the framework, our faculty will help you apply it to a variety of contexts, including a personalized scenario that you will introduce from your professional experience.
